LUSTER FIRING
This firing is for studio members and current or past members ONLY.

Members and students: Have work turned in by 4pm. Kiln we be started late at night. Studio will be locked up and CLOSED during this firing.
Clay Community Day!

Carmen will be in the studio throwing a tea pot or two, luster firing some pots for our luster load and possibly playing around with sodium silicate or stains!

Clay Club Night
Join us every other Friday night as we open up the studio for an hour of open clay building! Each club session will have a theme that you can follow along with or you can come in and build your own ideas and projects! Zero experience needed, all ages 9years+ and experience levels welcome!
Intermediate Clay Corner Workshop: Sodium Silicate

Throwing a vessel just like normal. Once close to fully thinned and shaped, we will add sodium silicate before our last pull. The affect is a crackled outer surface!
Intermediate Clay Corner Workshop: Double Walled Vessel

Similar to our donut vase workshop, we’ll work on throwing 2 separate walls from one wall of clay and then combining them at the rim. Triming and carving into the outer wall is a great technique to apply to the outer wall!

Reevaluating the basic steps, we’ll go over the best tips, tricks, and steps to getting taller, bigger wheel work. Recommended starting clay: 3-5lbs
Intermediate Clay Corner Workshop: Darting and Manipulating Thrown Vessels

A redo of the fall canceled class, we’ll focus on cutting, darting and manipulating vessels as we “break-out” of the symmetry of wheel thrown work and embrace the organic.
Intermediate Clay Corner Workshop: Blindfolded wheel throwing, practice session

It’s going to get a little crazy… Each participant will get 10 lbs of reclaim to practice throwing. An added challenge, try a few throws blindfolded to focus on your sense of touch during the throwing process.

Swing by and learn about two fun and easy decorating ideas! We will be using bubbles on already fired (bisqued) pieces and lace on green ware (preferably leather soft work.)
