Clay & Play @ Magee Park!

  • Magee Park 1820 Little Sugarcreek Road Dayton, OH, 45440 United States (map)

Come along for a muddy adventure as we dig up wild clay, craft our own clay masterpieces, and fire up your creations with a thrilling alternative Raku firing, all happening at the fantastic Magee Park in Bellbrook!

This clay-tastic event is in preparation of the Bellbrook Museum’s 200th birthday being held on August 2nd. OTB artists will be getting their hands dirty, gathering clay they will later whip up into custom ceramics that you can snag at the Museum party in August. You’re invited to join the muddy fun, gather your own clay, and shape your own keepsake treasures in the park! Plus, witness the magic of Raku, an alternative firing process, as OTB’s ceramic artist transforms pottery into stunning metallic and earthy hues amidst flames and smoke at Magee Park.

What Is a Raku Firing?

Raku firing is a quick, low-temperature ceramic technique in which pottery is removed from the kiln while glowing red hot and placed in a container filled with combustible materials. This oxygen-deprived reduction process creates distinctive glaze effects and vibrant colors.
